What is Occupational Therapy? Occupational therapy is treatment by a trained professional who helps patients gain skills for personal needs, develop abilities necessary for school or work, learn new ways to perform household tasks and regain lost skills. The goal of occupational therapy is to return patients to their families and the community, achieving their maximum level of productivity and dignity. Within Davis Health System, occupational therapy is available to patients and outpatients at Broaddus Hospital and Davis Memorial Hospital, and to homebound patients through Davis HomeCare. Persons with the following disorders can learn to understand and compensate for their limitations through occupational therapy:
